Extended Project Qualification

This qualification allows students to gain valuable UCAS points and a potential reduced offer at Russell Group Universities, whilst complementing their learning. If you plan to go to University, then we recommend that you complete the EPQ as you will develop valuable skills which the top Universities are looking for and the EPQ will give your UCAS application a competitive advantage.

The EPQ allows each student to embark on a largely self-directed and self-motivated project. Students mustchoose a topic, plan, research and develop their ideaand decide on their finished product.

We encourage creativity and curiosity. A project topic may be directly related to a student's main study programme but should look beyond the specification. Afinished productmay take the form of a:

  • research based written report
  • production (e.g. charity event, fashion show or sports event etc)
  • an artefact (e.g. piece of art, a computer game or realised design).

The project is assessed through a production log, written report and presentation.

Course Summary

The extended project is an internally assessed qualification.

Students need to produce a production log, verified by the supervisor, a written report, supplementary evidence and a presentation.
